What a tough bird to photograph. Fernwrens are small, hyperactive, and they love to forage on dark forest floor. The famous naturalist, Del Richards, was gracious enough to point out these fabulous little birds that were on our list of species we wanted to see, and we got great looks at a group of four or five hopping around in the dark.

The 7D doesn't perform very well in low light like this, and I managed to get a couple of shots off at 1/20 of a second where a bird would sit still for just a bit. The photos were noisy and not that great, but the experience was fantastic.
